2021 global bioplastics industry production capacity may reach 6.1 million metric tons

The production capacity of biodegradable plastics such as polylactic acid and polyhydroxyalkanoates is also steadily increasing, and the organization is expected to grow from 900,000 tons in 2016 to 1.3 million tons in 2021. It is estimated that by 2021, Europe will produce about a quarter of global bioplastics.
