"Key Technologies for Co-production of Perishable Organic Waste Hydrogen Methane" Passed the Appraisal

The Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province organized and presided over the scientific and technological achievements appraisal meeting of the "key technology for the production of perishable organic waste hydrogen methane" undertaken by the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The appraisal committee consists of seven experts from universities and research institutes across the country. Academician Peng Suping serves as director of the appraisal committee, and Professor Yang Xiushan and Xu Min serve as deputy directors. Zhou Xiaoyun, deputy chief of the Guangzhou Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ma Longlong, secretary of the Guangzhou Energy Institute, deputy director Wu Nengyou, assistant director Li Haibin, and project team members attended the appraisal meeting. The meeting was chaired by Wang Yawen, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology.

The appraisal committee heard a summary of the research work of the project leader Yuan Zhenhong and a summary report of the technical work. He examined the site and conducted questions and discussions. The expert group unanimously considered that the project submission materials were complete and met the appraisal requirements, invented the hydrogen production technology and hydrogen production coupling technology of perishable organic waste materials, and developed a solid percolation bed hydrolysis acid production reactor and a fibrous bed methane generation reactor. A pilot system for hydrogen methane cogeneration was integrated and established. The process optimization of the hydrogen-producing phase and the methane-producing phase and the stable operation of the reaction system were realized, and the organic acid suppression problem caused by single-phase high-concentration fermentation of organic waste was solved.

The key technology of this achievement has been obviously innovative, has reached the international advanced level in general, passed the results appraisal, and suggested that industrialization applications be carried out as soon as possible.
