South Korea invented nano anti-counterfeiting technology

Now that the issue of cottage is getting more and more attention, how to prevent counterfeiting is also a headache. Recently, South Korean scientists announced that using nanotechnology can give the product a unique "fingerprint."

The research team of the Korea Science and Technology Institute used a nanoscale silver wire with a length of only 10 to 50 μm and coated with a silicon dioxide coating doped with a fluorescent material. 20 to 30 such silver wires can be organized into a regular random pattern according to an algorithm. These patterns are stored in a network database for security authentication.

The counterfeiting difficulty of this technique is that it is difficult to operate the nanometer materials, and even if the copycat finds the rule, it is difficult to arrange it in the way it was intended. And its cost is also higher than the general anti-counterfeiting means, cottage factory is not able to bear the cost of making templates.

If the template is not counted, the price of each "fingerprint" is not high, and the cost is less than 1 US dollar. Researchers believe that this technology should be attractive to small businesses.
