Lithium-ion batteries have laid the foundation for further improvement in the mileage of electric vehicles. The development of a high-capacity negative electrode is an important prerequisite for the development of a 400Wh/kg lithium-ion battery. The silicon-based negative electrode has a theoretical specific capacity of 10 times that of the existing graphite negative electrode, and is currently the focus of negative electrode material development. However, the silicon-based negative electrode involves a huge volume expansion during the cycle, which results in poor cycle stability and low circulating coulombic efficiency, which seriously restricts the practical application of the high-capacity silicon-based negative electrode. The Peking University project team prepared an egg yolk structure Si/C composite by in-situ coating and etching. Due to the buffer space reserved between the active nano-Si core and the carbon shell, the composite material exhibits self-adaptability and good structure and interface stability during charge and discharge. The material has a specific capacity of 1300 mAh/g. The capacity retention rate of the material is as high as 90% and 80% after 3C, 500 weeks and 5C and 1000 weeks. This work laid the foundation for the development of lithium-ion batteries with an energy density of 400 Wh/kg.
