According to the communique, 182 cities across the country have carried out groundwater quality monitoring and the total number of water quality monitoring sites is 4,110. The results of sampling test analysis showed that there were 418 excellent water quality monitoring sites, accounting for 10.17% of all monitoring sites; 1135 good water quality monitoring sites, accounting for 27.62%; and 206 water quality monitoring sites. , accounting for 5.01%; the poor water quality monitoring sites were 1662, accounting for 40.44%; the water quality was very poor monitoring sites for 689, accounting for 16.7%.

Gongfu pointed out that, overall, the quality of groundwater in the country is not optimistic. The total number of monitoring sites with excellent water quality—good-better grades—is 1,759, accounting for 42.8% of all monitoring sites. Water quality is poor – very poor monitoring. 2351 points, accounting for 57.2% of all monitoring sites. The ratio of poor to very poor grade water has exceeded excellent-good-better grade water.

The communique pointed out that compared with the previous year, the stability of the groundwater quality in the major cities of the country was dominated. Among them, cities with a good trend are located in East China, and only a few cities in North China, Northeast China and Northwest China have better water quality. Areas where water quality tends to be declining are mainly concentrated in North China, Northeast China, and Northwest China. There are only sporadic distribution of cities in East China and South Central South China.
